It makes me confused sometime while finding out the justification of doing music. The thoughts that are knocking the doors of my mind might seem to sound bit rude or might come up with the result that are out of box. To me the only motivation of doing music is kind of supplying the food directly to my soul. I don’t find any other outcome or reinforcement of doing music here in Bangladesh. I know it ii is really sounding bit harsh and some musicians may have some other counter logic regarding the motivation of doing music. Well, it depends on the individual perception which varies person to person, community to community and countries to countries as well.
In Bangladesh from my point of view I do believe that music can only be taken as a tool of pleasure or enjoyment only when if the musicians can take it as hobby, not profession. Well, I am talking about the general scenario of the common musicians though there are some exceptions as well. Despite this fact during the peak time of the music industry some musicians had earned money from their creative works because the time was favorable to them. I don’t want to mention names, some musicians utilized it properly and shifted shift themselves to overseas. I would say they are good forecaster because they might have understood it long before that the industry will no longer be same few years after. But the fact is that this strategy of this benefit of time cannot be implemented in today’s scenario. Some reasons are interconnected with present disaster of the music and audio & video industry in Bangladesh where no investment of doing productions can be turned to be profitable, not even break even point. So what is the use of doing music if the expected outcome is based on finance?
Now let’s go further with the motivation of making fame. Can ‘FAME’ create long lasting effect on human mind? Players and performers can remain in the audience mind till their presence in the screen of their respective field. I am not saying that it is all about ‘out of sight, out of mind’, but the more they can entertain the audience, the more they will remain in the audience mind. It’s a psychological game.
How many of you can remember the late prominent singer Abdul Zabbar who sang the legendary song “Ore Nil Dariya’. The reality is he had severe financial crisis during the last stage of his life. How many of you can remember the singer Apel Mahmud who sang ‘Mora Ekti Phul ke Bachabo Bole judho Kori’? How many of you remember or know music director Selim Ashraf who is the tune composer of the legendary song "je matir buke ghumiye ache", recently passed away. He had severe financial crisis in doing his kidney dialysis. He was looking for even public help to bear his treatment expenses. . There are lots of artist whose names can be mentioned who had to go through similar conditions and some are already facing. Very sorry to say very few artists in Bangladeshi got their deserving respect and recognition during their life time period or even after their death while some artist names and their contributions to the industry are still unknown to our nation. Well, I am talking about the general phenomenon of the Bangladeshi creative Industry.
Let’s go back to the old era. We have grown up watching the legendary comedy actor of Bangladeshi film industry Dildar and legendary actor whom we knew as best villain of our film industry Mr Rajiv. Did anyone celebrate any of their death anniversary for a single year. I think somebody had already forgotten their names and contributions to the industry.
This cycle will be repeating and the effect will be applicable for the artists of our today’s generation whose image will fade way 10 to 15 years from now on. So what is the use of doing music here in Bangladesh? Let’s find out the answer from your own way.

So what is the conclusion? The only motivation of doing music is satisfying the soul’s content at least that is what I believe.
