Life at North South University
I got admitted for bachelors into North South University in the year of 2001. My id no was 011-023-030. Initially I felt bit awkward matching up with the environment as my background of growing up and other norms and cultures were unfamiliar to me. While doing my first semester everything seems to me totally imbalanced.
After completing 1st semester I gradually learnt to adjusted myself with the surroundings. My mother was actually inspiring me to take part in cultural events as she thought if I involve myself with cultural activities, my campus time will be gradually tolerable.
My mother knew that I could sing well. She was thinking if I got involved with other activities I might have felt good adjusting with new environment and simultaneously I would be able to explore my talents and get a platform to go ahead.
Being inspired by my mother I was searching platforms where I can perform. Eventually I got to know about North South University Sanscritik songothon (NSUSS) where I could showcase my musical talents. I had to give audition to be selected in one the in house program ‘Ha Za Ba Ra La’. At that time president of NSUSS Mr Samsul Arefin Jaigirdar and proctor and faculty advisor of NSU and NSUSS Mr shahriar Akbar Chowdhury (SAC) helped me a lot to participate in that event. I won the audience heart through performing a song “Bhegee Bhegee rato Main” and became a rising star at my campus.
The same year I participated annual cultural evening ACE and my performance was one of the breakthrough performance in that event where I saw “Amay Bhasaili ray amay dubaili ray”.
My vice chancellor Mr Hafiz G A Siddiqi who is no more now and I am praying for his departed soul from the bottom of my heart. He at that time nominated me to participate in the national competition organized by BTV where I had to compete with all the private universities in the category of folk song. I stood first in that competition performing the song ‘Nirikh Bandhore Dui Noyone’. One of the judges Farida Parveen appreciated my performance. NSU authority was highly excited for my performance in the national competition. In the same I was awarded with 25% of scholarship based on my academic result and extracurricular activities.

In the year of 2003 the NSU authority nominated me for a bigger national competition ‘National Education Week 2003’ where the winner will be awarded with gold medal from the prime minister of Bangladesh and the award ceremony will be live telecasted from BTV which was seriously a big honor for any artist. I became dramatically the winner of that competition through performing the song ‘Doyal tomaro lagia’ and got gold medal from that time Prime Minister Begam Khaleda Zia and I will remember this achievement till the last breath of my life. In the following year I won another national award in music.
Well, I had some negative incidents during my university life and by the mercy of Allah I overcame from sort of negative consequences. I got to know about the fact that you cannot be friend of everyone and not everyone will appreciate your success journey and everywhere everyone will have to face evil friends and negative consequences and we have to move on with these gained positive or negative experiences.
However I will be cherishing NSU memories till the last time of my life as I had some wonderful friends and memories during that short span of my life and I was graduated from NSU in the year of 2005.
