Viral artist and virtual celebrity in the era of digitization

Now a days it is to be observed that a great number of artists are rising in the virtual world rather than real world. I am not saying that it is good or bad sign as so many digital platforms are available to showcase the talent of any artist but it is regretting to acknowledge that most of them are still unknown in the real world or somehow temporarily they are rapidly rising and becoming celebrity in the virtual world and simultaneously they are becoming lost or fading away from the media speedily in the same way they were arisen in public mind. That means these types of digital artists cannot hold their position for a longer period period of time. In the digital platform they widely known as "viral" artist. 

I have seriously an allergy with the word "viral". It is to be noted with sorrow that most of the artists are trying their level best to be viral as the media pattern has been transformed into digitized way where everybody is busy and nobody has enough time to watch television. The same things are happeningh iniour audio industry as no production companies are releasing any new track in the CD/cassette format. They are producing it for digital platforms. There are so many digital platforms are there both for viewers who can watch programs online and the artists/productions who are promoting their talents/contents in the platforms like YouTube, Facebook etc.

Personally I do not remember when did I first watch a full drama in the television channel as all these programs become available online immediate after the on airing on television channel. It only requires a internet connected smartphone to watch that program from our convenient time and place. Being in the era of digitization the electronic media is already under threat.

On the other hand the existence of an artist is also becoming challenging. I am a singer. I cannot remember when did I get or buy a musical album in the form of CD/cassette/DVD as the production house is producing or releasing the contents in the digital platform. The only parameter of success of that project is viewership. If more views are there for that content, the more the artist is popular, but in the real world these hit artists cannot hold their position or cannot create a space in the audience mind as their space is only in the virtual and digital sector which will be also faded away soon and they are known as so called "viral" artist.
